And what kind of world are we shaping through these invisible decisions
These questions didn’t come from a textbook. They came from observation. From motherhood. From years watching how fear, pressure, and convenience can lead us to say yes to things we don’t fully understand.
Over the past year, I’ve been immersing myself in conversations about AI and data. Not from a technical place, but from a human one. And here are some of the things I’ve come to realize
1. Data is not neutral. It’s personal
When a platform stores your voice, your words, your queries, your patterns — it’s not just numbers. It’s parts of your story. Sometimes even the tender, unfiltered parts. That deserves care.
2. Convenience comes at a cost
It’s easy to say yes to that new tool or automation. But the easier something feels, the more mindful we need to be about what’s happening behind the scenes. Who benefits What are we exchanging
3. “Delete” doesn’t always mean delete
One of the most sobering things I’ve learned is that some platforms retain user data indefinitely — even when we think we’ve erased it. And that’s not just a technical issue. That’s an ethical one.
4. The absence of bad intentions doesn’t remove the need for boundaries
I believe most people building AI tools want to help. But even well-meaning systems can create harm when they’re not built with care. We need more voices asking “Should we” — not just “Can we”
Because I’ve seen what happens when people lose control of their own stories.
I’ve worked with clients who carry invisible wounds from past exploitation — whether by systems, institutions, or even themselves. Data misuse may not look dramatic at first glance. But slowly, it erodes agency. It creates imbalance. It disconnects us from consent.
And that’s not the kind of tech ecosystem I want to be part of.
I believe we can create intelligent systems that honor human dignity
I believe in innovation that is not only fast but fair
I believe in making technology transparent and teachable
And I believe that the most important question we can keep asking is
How would I feel if this was my data
